Latest Pet Of The Month

Meet our newest pet of the month!

Beckham is a golden retriever who was born in York, Pennsylvania on September 27, 2006. He was adopted by four girls and lived with them for two years as they finished their college careers in Bethlehem, PA. After living in Northeastern Pennsylvania for 3 years, he and two of his roommates pursued a beach bum lifestyle in Key West, Florida. Beckham lived in Southern Florida for a year and enjoyed swimming at the beach and chasing the free roaming chickens. Growing tired of Key West but not of the beach, Beckham headed north. He found his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He has lived here for almost three years and enjoys his proximity to the beach. The changing climate provides him the opportunity to enjoy the snow that his Pennsylvanian roots seems to love.
This year, Beckham even has taken on the role as "big brother", when his mom had a baby girl last summer. He has had an eventful year; he was diagnosed with cancer in March 2013. Beckham had a plasma cell tumor removed. After meeting with the veterinary staff at University of Pennsylvania, he is now undergoing 6 months of chemotherapy. Beckham receives monthly blood tests to monitor his progress and hopes to be cancer free by October of this year. Soon Beckham will be approaching a new adventure, this navy brat will be moving to Newport, Rhode Island. Not straying far from the beach, but the warm climate, he will learn the life of a New Englander. We hope this year adventure, will land him right back to his home in Virginia Beach. This happy boy is as sweet as they come. His family is working very hard to keep him healthy and hopes for a full recovery. In the mean time, Beckham is responding well to treatment and his enthusiastic personality remains in tact.

Each month, the staff at Birdneck Animal Hospital publicly acknowledge one our many wonderful patients by sharing their heartwarming story with others through our Pet of the Month. In addition, Birdneck Animal Hospital  makes a donation, in the name of each of our Pets of the Month, to NOBLEPETS. What is  NOBLEPETS?

Noblepets is a new branch of the Noblemen Organization that has been  spearheaded by our very own Dr. Johnson.  Dr. Johnson and the Noblemen have created this wonderful platform as a way to allow more individuals a way of giving back to the community, while at the same time publicly acknowledging your pet, and telling the world why your pet is noble.
Monies raised through Noblepets go toward helping provide local children and veterans who are disabled with specially trained aid dogs to make their lives less difficult.
The Birdneck Noblepet Of The Month have their picture displayed on the Noblepet Wall of Honor at the Birdneck Animal Hospital, and have their photo as well as their story posted on the web sites of the Birdneck Animal Hospital and The Noblemen.  Each owner also receives a T-shirt and car magnet announcing that their pet has been recognized as a Noblepet.
