Dr.Wayne M. Johnson,VMDVeterinarian
As a veterinarian, I especially enjoy surgery, educating owners and children on how to keep their pets healthy, the fun of puppy and kitten visits, and making elderly patients feel like puppies and kittens again. I have had post-graduate training in medicine, surgery, endoscopy, ultrasound, laser surgery, therapeutic laser, and reptile medicine.
I am proud to be a member of the Noblemen, a philanthropic organization that raises money for special needs children in the Tidewater area. Additionally, I helped to form the NoblePets branch of the organization. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
When I'm not working at the hospital or working at home assisting my wife and my son in their duties as local wildlife rehabilitators, I love to fish and I enjoy writing. I finished my first Fantasy novel, which I would love to have published.
I have the most caring and amazingly wonderful staff members here at Birdneck Animal Hospital. I am very lucky to be surrounded by such a fantastic crew. Please feel free to stop by with or without your pet to meet us.

AshleyOffice Manager, Licensed Veterinary Technician
I am a native of Virginia Beach and Class of 2013 Alumni of Old Dominion University, where I received my B.S. in Biology with a Sociology Minor. I became a licensed Veterinary Technician in April of 2019, which I'm very proud of.
I love being a part of the Birdneck Animal Hospital team because I get to meet so many new clients and their furry (and some not so furry) children. I enjoy being around animals of all species and currently have many of my own. My husband, Nick, and I currently have dogs, cats, fish, tarantulas, and a bearded dragon.

AdamVeterinary Assistant
Growing up as a veterinarian's son I have always been around animals. I began working at Birdneck Animal Hospital as a summer job in high school, which developed into always working at least part-time (unless I was hours away at college) ever since. My mother and I have permits to rehabilitate orphaned/abandoned wildlife as well, which has given me an opportunity to meet and care for new kinds of animals including opossums, squirrels and raccoons. I'm very interested in animal behavior and enrichment, and hope to continue my work alongside the animal kingdom throughout my life.

I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Virginia a few years ago. Since I can remember I've had a love for animals and after being in the workforce I knew my true passion was to work with animals. Throughout all of life's adventures, our furry companions have been there by our sides with their constant love and support!

I'm originally from a small town called Sandwich, MA, but have lived in VB for most of my life. I've been an animal lover my whole life. I started off working in kennels, and now I am happy to call BAH my saving grace with being a Veterinary Assistant. I live my life by three things: dogs, books, and Star Wars. I have two crazy dogs that always know how to keep me going: Annabelle Lee my German Shorthaired Pointer and Ezekiel Noah my Yellow Labrador.

I grew up in rural Camden, NC in which I was always hunting for critters to take home in my pockets. I now fill my pockets with cat treats for my two crazy ladies, Meadow & Delilah, who get all my love and attention when I'm not at the hospital. Working with animals is that much more meaningful because even if they can't say it, you know they're thanking you in kisses & tail wags.

I have grown up in Virginia Beach my whole life, wanting to pursue a career in veterinary medicine since kindergarten. I started during my rising senior year in high school, as my first job ever. I have had 5 guinea pigs in the past, 2 English Mastiffs, and a horse. My love for animals grows stronger every day, and I am so excited to be able to start my journey here to see where it takes me.
